Problem Statement

Climate change is a global issue that significantly impacts various regions. In Northern Uganda the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly evident affecting agriculture, water resources, health and socio-economic stability. Northern Uganda has a predominantly agrarian economy, where the majority of the population relies on subsistence farming. Recent trends indicate shifts in rainfall patterns, increased temperature and more frequent extreme weather events such as drought and floods which pose significant risks to food security and livelihoods.
Northern Uganda has also faced significant challenges due to prolonged conflicts that lasted from 1986 - 2006, primarily involving the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and the government forces. The conflicts resulted in a widespread displacement, destruction of infrastructure, and severe disruptions to social support systems. The impact on young children, particularly those aged birth to three years, has been profound.
